Two Injured in SR20 Crash Near Helmick Road

Sedro-Woolley, Washington– The Washington State Patrol responded to a serious injury crash on State Route 20 near Helmick Road, 4 miles East of Sedro-Woolley around 2:07 Pm on September 9th, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 71-year old Daniel Schmidt of Concrete was Eastbound State Route 20 in a Green 1993 Subaru Loyale traveling behind a gold 2002 Pontiac Montana being driven by  35-year old Robin Boome of Sedro-Woolley.

The press memo states traffic ahead of both vehicles had stopped due to an altercation in the roadway near State Route 20 and Helmick road  when Mr. Schmidt rear ended the Pontiac Montana. He was seriously injured and had to be extricated from the vehicle before being transferred to United General Hospital in Sedro- Woolley to meet a helicopter from Airlift Northwest.  He was transported by Helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where his condition is unknown.

Both Vehicles were impounded by Carl’s Towing for Safe keeping.

The press memo states drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash and the cause and possible charges are pending investigation.
