Mount Vernon Officers Investigate Shootings on N. Laventure

Mount Vernon, WA – Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department responded to reports of  shots  fired around 9:13 pm on October 31, 2016 in the 300 block of North Laventure Road.

According to a press  release from Mount Vernon Police Lieutenant Greg Booth, upon arrival  Officers located a residence with bullet damage to the siding and a window facing N. Laventure Road.

While investigating the scene and speaking with witnesses, officers learned a dark colored SUV was observed driving south on N. Laventure Road toward Division Street shortly after the shooting, but it’s unknown if there’s any connection to this incident.

On November 1, 2016 at approximately 2:53 am, Mount Vernon Police responded to this same residence for a second report of shots being fired.

Officers located new bullet damage to a window facing N. Laventure Road. Based on witness statements, a K-9 track was attempted, but no suspects were located. Investigators interviewed several neighbors, and collected rounds out of the residence, related to both shooting incidents.

The Initial investigation by detectives  indicates these incidents are focused on this single residence and not the broader neighborhood.

In response, the Mount Vernon Police Department Crime Prevention Division is working with the property owner to address these concerns.
