Inattention Blamed for Seven Car Crash near Centralia

Centralia, WA –  The Washington State Patrol responded to a seven car crash on Northbound I-5 near milepost 81 in Lewis County on January 6th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, six people were injured in a 7 vehicle crash, including two semi trucks on Northbound I-5 in Centralia.

Troopers say, 55-year old Mark Torell of Arlington was traveling Northbound I-5 in Centralia in a 2006 Freightliner Tractor and bulk tank trailer when he failed to yield for slowed traffic in both lanes ahead of him. Trooper say he struck six vehicles. Mr. Torell was injured and transported to Centralia Providence Hospital for Treatment.  His vehicle was impounded by the Washington State Patrol.

54-year old Marjorie Schone of Tigard, Oregon was driving a white 2012 Nissan Versa 4 door. She was transported to Centralia Providence Hospital for treatment.

80-year old Marion Kirkendoll of Oregon City, Oregon was in a 2016 Honda Odyssey Van and was not injured. The van was totaled and impounded  by Grants Towing for safe keeping.

55-Year old Patricia Fralic of La Conner was driving a 2013 Acura RDX. She was injured and transported to Centralia Providence. A passenger in her vehicle, 56-year old Gergory Fralic of La Conner was injured and transported to Centralia Providence Hospital for treatment. Their vehicle was impounded by the Washington State Patrol.

57-year old Rick Nicholas of Eagle Creek, Oregon was driving a 2004 Ford Escape.  He was injured and transported to Centralia Providence Hospital for treatment. His vehicle was totaled and impounded by Grants towing for safe keeping.

40-year old Brad Hitchcock of Tumwater was driving a blue 2013 Toyota Prius. He was injured and transported to St Josephs. His Vehicle was impounded by the Washington State Patrol.

Virk Navdeep of Abbotsford, BC was driving a 2001 Peter built Tractor and flatbed trailer. His truck has reportable damage and was driven from the scene.

The cause of the crash was listed as following too close.

Charges are pending against the causing driver.
