Freeland Man Dies in Crash on SR19 in Jefferson County

Jefferson County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a three vehicle fatal crash around 5:45 a.m. on State Route 19, three miles East of Port Townsend on January 20th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 66-year old John Strader of Freeland was traveling Northbound on State Route 19 near milepost 3 in a brown 1997 Infinity QX4 when he crossed the center line and struck a 2005 GMC Box Truck being driven by 22-year old Brayan Valeztorres of Tacoma.   Mr. Strader died at the scene.  Mr. Valeztorres was injured and transported to Jefferson General Hosptial.

The impact of the crash caused the box truck to exit the roadway to the right where it came to rest down an embankment.  The Infinity came to rest in the roadway. A third vehicle, a 1990 Honda Accord driven by 24-year old Albino Reyesramos of Bremerton, swerved to avoid the collision and his vehicle rolled down an embankment.  Mr. Reyesramos was injured and transported to Jefferson General Hospital.

A passenger in the box truck, 43-year old Luis Maturinomorales of Tacoma,  was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries.

A passenger in the Honda, 18-year old Horacio Reyesramos  of Bremerton was injured and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Troopers say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
