Anacortes, WA – The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible Attempted Luring of a child that occurred on Friday, January 20th, 2017 in Anacortes.
According to a release posted on Facebook from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, the incident allegedly occurred around 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon near Marine Drive in Anacortes. A child reported that as they were walking home from the bus stop a person tried to lure them into their vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Office is looking for a possible suspect vehicle described as a white late-model station wagon with silver wheels and a large dent in the front bumper.
According to information obtained by SkagitBreaking.com from the family of the child involved, the station wagon described as a mid-sized 70’s or 80’s white station wagon reportedly pulled up slowly next to the child and asked him if he wanted a ride. When he said no, the vehicle who had two men and one woman in it kept following him slowly, so he called 9-1-1 with his cell phone. While on the phone with dispatchers the vehicle pulled up again and asked him if he wanted a ride, he said no again. The child says the vehicle then pulled ahead of him and stopped and the occupants got out of the car. The child said he dropped his stuff and ran while he was still on the phone with dispatchers. The family said the child hid in the bushes for a while until he heard them drive away. The child said the station wagon was full of junk and the occupants “looked rough.”
The family said the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office has been amazing during the ordeal.
If you have seen this vehicle or the subjects possibly involved, you are asked to please call 9-1-1.
