Clear Lake Man Charged with Attempted Murder for Puget Street Shooting

Sedro-Woolley, WA –  On October 22nd, 2016, Sedro-Woolley Police Officers responded to a shooting incident around 2:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Puget Avenue.

Sedro-Woolley Police Officers and Sedro Woolley Fire and Emergency Medical crews responded to the scene and found a 50-year old adult male with 3 gun shot wounds to the chest and torso.

Probable Cause affidavits of arrest obtained by SkagitBreaking.com through a public disclosure request show the victim was working on a vehicle outside his home when he was approached by 26-year old Cody Kingston of Clear Lake.  Mr. Kingston was known to the victim, and as the victim attempted to walk towards his home he was shot several times from behind.  The shooting was reportedly witnessed by several children in the area.

The victim was transported by local medics to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon and then transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Sedro-Woolley Police Detectives have followed up on multiple leads in the case and with the assistance of the Bellingham Police Department they  were able to take Mr. Kingston into custody in the 700 Block of Lakeway Drive in Bellingham on January 21st, 2017.

Mr. Kingston is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail on an investigative hold for Attempted 1st Degree Murder.   He is also being held on several outstanding warrants for dangerous weapons, and two counts of driving on a suspended license in the 1st degree.
