UPDATE: Camano Island Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash

Snohomish County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded with Ladder 48, NCRFA, Marysville Fire District and FD-19 to a motorcycle/truck  accident on Northbound I-5 near milepost 210, 6-miles North of Arlington  on January 27th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 27-year old Stephen Swift of Camano Island was traveling Northbound on I-5 approaching milepost 210 on a 2007 Yamaha Motorcycle.  The press memo states that Mr. Swift stopped for traffic ahead of him and a 2013 Toyota Tacoma driven by 61-year old Daniel Sayson of Stanwood collided with the  motorcycle.

Mr. Swift was wearing a US DOT compliant helmet and was  injured and transported by medics to the  Providence Colby Campus. The driver of the truck, Mr. Sayson was not injured.

The motorcycle was impounded to the Washington State Patrol bullpen in Marysville and the Toyota truck was driven from the scene.

The cause of the crash in under investigation and charges are pending against the causing driver.

Stephen Swift posted on the Arlington, WA -Firefighters, IAFF Local 3728 Facebook page that his collar-bone is in several pieces but he is ok.  He credited Alpine Stars and Shoei, saying it was the best $2K he has ever spent.

Arlington Firefighters wrote “Unbelievably, the rider was not critically injured. The rider was wearing full protective gear, likely saving his life!”
