Skagit County, WA – A 9-1-1 call just after 11 p.m. on Saturday night, lead to the arrest of a Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputy for investigation of domestic violence assault.
The incident started when the victim reported a man, later identified as a Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputy had become violent with her and threatened to harm himself with a weapon.
Multiple Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home in the Big Lake area but prior to their arrival the man left the house in a vehicle and was said to be en route to another location. Additional Deputies responded to the area the man was said to be heading and located the man in his vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on his vehicle near Waugh Road and Broadway Street in Mount Vernon.
The man was detained by Deputies and taken into custody by Mount Vernon Officers to avoid a conflict of interest. The man was then transported to the Island County Jail, instead of the Skagit County Jail, also to avoid a conflict of interest. He was booked into the Island County Jail for Investigation of 2nd Degree Assault-Domestic Violence. His bail amount was set at $100,000.
The Deputy was placed on paid administrative leave with the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office pending results of an internal investigation into his actions and the criminal charges pending against him.
