Mount Vernon Man Arrested for Armed Robbery of 1/2 Ounce of Marijuana

Mount Vernon, WA – Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery in the 800 block of Cosgrove Street around  in Mount Vernon on January 20th, 2017.

According to a probable cause affidavit of arrest obtained by www.SkagitBreaking.com through a public disclosure request, four males went to a house in the 800 block of Cosgrove Street to obtain some marijuana.  The victim admitted that he was planning on smoking marijuana with one of the males who was his friend, but the friend  showed up with additional males.

During the encounter one of the males reportedly stole a half ounce of marijuana from the victim and took off running.  One of the other males brandished a large revolver and pointed it at the victim when he attempted to take back his marijuana.

Three of the males were detained in the area of the robbery and a fourth male was located a short distance away and taken into custody for outstanding warrants. During a post Miranda taped interview the fourth male admitted to pulling a “cap gun” out of his pocket. He said the victim put his hands up and turned away.

The stolen marijuana was located on the persons of one of the males detained by police.

Video surveillance from a gas station in the area showed three of the four males walking together and the fourth male running from the area after the robbery.

The 21-year old Mount Vernon man is currently being held in the Skagit County jail in lieu of $75,000 bail for Robbery 1st degree and theft 3rd degree.

He is also being held on several outstanding warrants, including three (3)  counts of Possession of drug paraphernalia, three (3) counts of driving on a suspended license 3rd degree and two (2) additional counts of theft 3rd degree.
