Sedro-Woolley Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash Near Big Lake

Big Lake, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal crash around 2:26 p.m. today on State Route 9, four miles South of Mount Vernon.

According to a press release from the Washington State Patrol, 22-year old Jason Turner of Sedro-Woolley was traveling Northbound on State Route 9 on a 2006 Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Troopers say Mr. Turner crossed over the Double Yellow Line in a sweeping right hand curve near Milepost  46 and struck a Southbound 1998 Dodge Durango in the Southbound lane.   The Driver of the Durango, 42-year old Caleb Stifel of Friday Harbor was not injured.

Mr. Turner was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of Kin was notified by Fire and Aid at the scene.

The press memo says Mr. Turner had a valid motorcycle endorsement and was wearing an US DOT complaint helmet at the time of the crash.

Troopers say the cause of the crash remains under investigation and charges are not expected in the incident.
