Freeland Woman Jailed After DUI Collision with Motorcycle

Crash Investigation

Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle crash on State Route 525 at Woodard Avenue near the City limit of Freeland around 7:00 p.m. on September 7th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 59-year old Lonna Mathenia of Freeland was driving a white 1995 Jeep Cherokee while under the influence of drugs or alcohol Northbound on State Route 525 when her vehicle crossed the Double Yellow Line near Woodard Avenue and  she struck a Southbound  2016 BMW R Nine Motorcycle.   The driver of the motorcycle, 46-year old Adam Delong of Langley was seriously injured in the crash and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.  Mr. Delong was wearing a USDOT Compliant Helmet and had a valid motorcycle endorsement.

Lonna Mathenia was not injured and was booked into the Island County Jail for suspicion of  Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Assault.

Both Vehicles were impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen.
