Whatcom County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal incident on Northbound I-5 at the Hughes Avenue Overpass, 2 miles South of the Canadian border in Whatcom County around 12:23 a.m. on September 6th, 2017.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 59-year old Dennis Hill of Blaine was walking on the Hughes Avenue overpass over the Northbound Lanes of I-5 when he jumped from the overpass and landed in Lane one of I-5.
An unknown vehicle struck Mr. Hill in lane one and fled the scene. Mr. Hill died at the scene.
Troopers are asking anyone with information on the hit and run driver to contact the Washington State Patrol.
The cause of the incident is listed as “pedestrian jumping from overpass”.
The incident remains under investigation.
