Mount Vernon, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a single vehicle verses a building in the 1600 block of Freeway Drive around 4:29 p.m. on October 17th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 41-year old Alberto Martinez Flores of Mount Vernon was parked in front of a store in the 1600 block of Freeway drive in a tan 1997 Toyota Corolla for an extended period of time. Troopers say at some point the driver placed the vehicle into drive and drove through the front doors of the business. A pedestrian inside the store, 62-year old David Clemo of Mount Vernon was stuck by the vehicle.

Mr. Clemo was injured and transported to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon before being transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Alberto Martinez Flores was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular assault. He was booked into the Skagit County Jail.
