Mount Vernon Police Investigate Homicide

Homicide Investigation

Mount Vernon, WA – Officers with the Mount Vernon Police Department responded to reports of a gunshot victim in the 2100 block of East College Way around 6:08 p.m. on Sunday, December 17th, 2017.

According to a press release from Lieutenant Greg Booth, Officers found a deceased male inside the business complex on the North side of the building. A K-9 track was attempted, however no suspects were located.

Officers spoke with citizens in the area and patrons of surrounding businesses and received limited information related to the incident according to Booth.  Detectives are following up on some tips they received.

The scene was secured by Officers and a search warrant has been obtained for the complex. Detectives are awaiting the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team to assist in processing the scene.

Booth said the incident appears to be isolated, creating no ongoing threat to the greater community.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
