Skagit Valley College to Graduate 22 Law Enforcement Academy Cadets

The Skagit Valley College Parks Law Enforcement Academy will graduate 22 cadets from their program on Tuesday, December 19, at 1 pm. The event will be hosted at McIntyre Hall on the SVC campus in Mount Vernon. 

   The ceremony will feature a performance from Bellingham Pipeband Pipers, The presentation of Colors, the Flag Salute, and the Symbolic Oath of Honor, which will be presented by Mount Vernon Police Chief Jerry Dodd. The 18 men and 4 women that make up the graduating class have trained for the last 17 weeks. They will now move on from one of the 7 programs taught at college level that is approved by the National Park Service and accredited by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation Board.

  The cadets will graduate with skills and training in areas such as, dealing with conflict management, interview and interrogation techniques, suspect apprehension, emergency vehicle operations, firearm control and defense, as well the numerous other elements of curriculum that the Skagit Valley College Parks Law Enforcement Academy provides to those enlisted.
