Self-professed as “the foursome your parents warned you about,” Nurhachi is a new original Rock band that has emerged in Skagit County with some familiar faces.
Jack Mattingly, formerly of Jack Mattingly and Whiskey Fever, is back and heading up this crew of skilled musicians. As one of the most scintillating frontmen in the PNW, it automatically advances Nurhachi to the next level in live music entertainment. Combining Jack’s humor, musical talent, and experience along with his extraordinary songwriting, Nurhachi becomes distinguished as a “must-see” act.
Dylan Dalgarn, former bass player for Whiskey Fever, has emerged as an explosive lead guitar player in Nurhachi. If you have been to a Whiskey Fever live show, you have probably seen a glimpse of Dylan’s guitar licks when they covered Sugarhill Gang’s iconic song “Rappers Delight.” In Nurhachi, Dylan’s amazingly complex guitar chops resonate in every song. If you’re not an expert in the intricacy of the lead guitar, come to watch his spectacularly funky smooth dance moves while he plays. That alone is worth the cover charge.
Tim Mechling, co-owner of Washingtones Records, is the bass player for Nurhachi. Tim has an extensive list of past and current music projects, including The Vandal Hands Of Man, Great Pacific, Hooverville, Dillon Warneck, and Courtney Marie Andrews. Besides his bass playing being the string that ties all parts of the music together, Tim is also a decorated songwriter and has contributed to the Nurhachi set list.
Sean Dalgarn, brother of lead guitarist Dylan, heads up the percussion department in this tremendous musical posse. I say percussion “department” as there are a few extra fun additions to Sean’s unit that aren’t standard on every drum kit. Sean’s musical history includes The Half Bees and High Up, as well as contributing to the Out Of The Ashes music program that Sean & Dylan’s father, Jon Dalgarn, started nearly 15 years ago.
Between the veteran talent, as well as Jack and Dylan’s past experience of winning the #TourPossible Seattle band competition with Whiskey Fever in 2017, Nurhachi has the potential to break through the boundaries of local fame and advance to higher prominence. However, right now, it’s all about having fun with each other and their audiences.
