Arrests Made in Burlington Drive-by Shooting Incident

Burlington, WA– The Burlington Police Department in  cooperation with the Bellingham Police Department and the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team served a search warrant  in the 800 Block of E. Axton Road in Bellingham in reference to the drive-by shooting incident that occurred on Spruce Street  in  Burlington  around 9:07 p.m. on March 19th, 2018.

According to a press release from Burlington Police Department Public Information Officer Mike Lumpkin, during the execution of the search warrant, detectives recovered 3 guns and various quantities of methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana. The red van believed to be involved in this incident was also located at the same address.

A 49-year old Bellingham man and a 55-year old Bellingham woman are currently in custody in the Skagit County Community Justice Center. The two suspects are currently being held on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Drive by Shooting and Delivering Drugs to a Minor.  The other involved parties in the incident  were identified as a 17-year old Ferndale teen and a 16-year old Bellingham teen. 

Detectives were able to confirm that this shooting incident was not a random act and the parties involved in this incident knew each other.

The Burlington Police Department would like to thank the many Skagit County and Whatcom County law enforcement agencies that came together to help with this investigation.

Officer Lumpkin wrote “This was another excellent example of multi-agency cooperation.”

Online Jail Booking Information show Keith Rawlins and Janita Sellers were both arrested on E. Axton Way in Bellingham and booked into the Skagit County Community Justice Center for Drive-By Shooting among other charges.  Both Subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
