Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash Near Darrington

Skagit County, WA– The Washington State Patrol responded to a single vehicle crash on Eastbound State Route 530, five miles east of Darrington.

According to a press memo from the Washington State patrol, a 70-year old male was traveling at a high rate of speed  Westbound on State Route 530 near Milepost 53 in a 2004 Buick Rainier SUV when he failed to maneuver through a right curve. Troopers say his SUV crossed the center line, left the roadway and struck a tree.  The man, who has not been identified by Troopers, died at the scene.

The cause of the crash is listed as “speed”.
