Grays Harbor County, WA– A Washington State Patrol Trooper attempted to stop a Green 1999 Acura for a speed violation on Westbound Bound State Route 8 near Milepost two around 3:21 p.m. on July 17th, 2018.

According to Troopers, 47-year old Richard Harpel of Olympia failed to yield to the Trooper and he sped off before turning right onto Fairgrounds Road, where he pulled over to let two passengers out of the vehicle. 18-year old Bailey Dawson of Olympia and 18-year old Yven Barbosa of Olympia jumped out of the vehicle before the driver sped off at a high rate of speed.

Approximately 1/2 mile later, Troopers say the vehicle struck two telephone poles and a mailbox, where the vehicle flipped end for end, coming to rest upside down in the ditch.  Mr. Harpel then fled the scene on foot and Troopers continue to look for him.
