1 Killed, 3 Injured in Collision on I-5 near Conway

Conway, WA – According to a press memo released by the Washington State Patrol, 1 person was killed and 3 were injured during today’s collision on northbound I-5, near milepost 221/Conway.

A 2005 Kenworth semi truck, driven by Jordan T. Buis, 30, of Maple Ridge, BC, was traveling northbound on I-5, near milepost 221. The two other vehicles involved in the collision were also traveling northbound on I-5, and slowed for traffic. The semi truck struck one vehicle, a white 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe Sports Utility Vehicle. The force of the collision caused the white Hyundai Santa Fe to then strike another vehicle, which was a grey 2014 Toyota Camry. The semi truck had reportable damage and was impounded by Budget Towing.

The Hyundai Santa Fe was being driven by Cynthia W. Prosser, age 64, of Tulalip, WA. Ms. Prosser was declared deceased, and her next of kin has been notified. A passenger in her vehicle, Michelle L. Wolski, 62, of Arlington, WA, was injured in the collision and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Both women were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. This vehicle was totaled, and was impounded by Mount Vernon Towing.

The third vehicle involved, a 2014 Toyota Camry, was driven by Robert M. Bakker, 71, of Edmonds, WA. Mr. Roberts was injured in the collision and was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. A passenger in this vehicle, Michelle S. Bakker, 68, of Edmonds, WA, was also injured in the collision and was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital. Their vehicle had reportable damage and was impounded by Carl’s Towing. Mr. and Mrs. Baker were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The cause of the collision is under further investigation, and charges are pending in the case.
