Conway, WA- The Search for the body of a Missing 2-year old boy in the Skagit River near Conway has been officially suspended.
On November 29th, 2018, Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the 21000 block of Mann Road for reports of a missing 2-year old boy. The boy was reportedly last seen playing in his families backyard, which is also near the Skagit River on a toy power-wheel type car. Deputies fear the toddler may have accidently driven the electric car into the Skagit River after his mother turned her back briefly to speak to a neighbor.
Arriving Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies launched a large-scale Search and Rescue mission that included ground searchers, a dive team, boats, drones equipped with specialized heat sensing equipment, and a Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter from Naval Air Station (NAS) Whidbey Island. Search and Rescue members searched for over five hours before Deputies had to make the difficult decision to suspend the search operations until morning, due to safety reasons for the Search and Rescue teams on and near the fast moving Skagit River.
Search and Rescue teams continued searching for over a week by boat, air and ground for the body of 2-year old Star Austin Rogers-White, who goes by the name Austin.
The search for the boy’s remains may resume at a later date.
