Darrington Man Dies In Crash on SR530 Near Oso Memorial

Darrington, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Eastbound State Route 530 near the Oso Landslide Memorial around 9:09 a.m. on June 6th, 2019.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 46-year old Douglas Buchanan of Darrington was traveling Eastbound on State Route 530 in a white 1994 Jeep Cherokee when he crossed the centerline and struck a Westbound 2019 Mack Dump truck being driven by 60-year old Tammara Murphy of Stanwood.  Buchanan died at the scene.

Troopers say drugs or alcohol were not involved in the crash. The Jeep was totaled and impounded by North County Towing for Safe keeping. The Dump Truck sustained reportable damage and was towed by Dicks Towing.

The cause of the crash is listed as “Crossing the Centerline.” No Charges are expected in the crash.
