Whatcom County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a single vehicle crash on Northbound I-5 near milepost 270, four miles North of Ferndale around 5:05 p.m. on August 8th, 2019.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, a 79-year old man from Blaine was traveling Northbound on I-5 on the I-5 Off ramp to Birch Bay Lynden Road in a blue 2005 Kia Amanti, when his vehicle struck the guardrail on the left shoulder, then the vehicle left the roadway to the right and went down an embankment into a ditch where it came to rest.

Troopers believe the man may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash and medics responded and attempted life saving measures but the man died at the scene.

The Official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
