Oak Harbor Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Island County, WA– The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash around 9:01 p.m. on State Route 20 at NE 16th Avenue in Island County on August 31st, 2019.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 51-year old John Cornelius of Oak Harbor was driving a white 2017 Chevrolet Silverado and was  turning Westbound on Northeast 16th Avenue when he was struck in the intersection  by a 2008 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle driven by 27-year old Carlton Miller of Oak Harbor. Troopers say Miller  was traveling Southbound on State Route 20 when he hit the truck in the intersection.

Miller Died as a result of the crash. Cornelius was not injured in the crash.

The Truck was impounded by A1 Towing For safe keeping and the motorcycle was totaled and impounded by Christians Towing.

Troopers say the cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges are expected in the crash.
