Burlington, WA – A 16-year old male was arrested on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 in connection with an October Shooting at an underage drinking party in Burlington on October 25th, 2019.
According to a press memo from the Burlington Police Department, Officers with the Burlington Police Department and several surrounding agencies responded to reports of shots fired at a large party in the 1200 block of East Rio Vista Avenue in Burlington on October 25th, 2019. Callers reported hearing what sounded like gunshots coming from the party and witnesses saw several teens running from the area. . That night, two teens arrived at area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries and received medical treatment. Later, a third individual sought medical treatment at a local walk-in clinic and was contacted by Burlington Police Detectives.
During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified a suspect in the shooting and an arrest warrant was issued for a 16-year old male suspect. On Saturday, November 23rd, 2019, Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies contacted and arrested the teen and turned him over to Burlington Police Department Detectives. The suspect was interviewed and later booked into the Skagit County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of Assault in the 1st Degree.
“Our Detectives continue to pursue information surrounding this incident and we expect other possible charges and/or arrests to occur in the future,” Burlington Police Chief Mike Luvera said in the news release. “Crimes of violence cannot be tolerated in our community and these acts will continue to be a top priority for the Burlington Police Department.”
Due to the suspects age, Officers did not identify him.
