King County Sheriff’s Deputy Injured After Cruiser Struck by Cement Truck

King County, WA – A cement truck driver has been arrested and a King County Sheriff’s Deputy is in the hospital with a broken leg this evening after a concrete truck loaded with 105,000 pounds of powdered concrete smashed into his cruiser this morning around 10:15 a.m.

According to a release from the King County Sheriff’s Office, the fully loaded concrete truck exited off the ramp from Southbound I-5 Interurban South of Seattle traveling too fast for conditions. The 49-year old driver of the concrete truck crossed the center-line and struck a King County Sheriff’s Deputy, nearly head-on.

The 49-year old driver of the concrete truck was taken to Harborview Medical Center and treated for his injuries before being arrested on  suspicion of Vehicular Assault due to suspected impairment on his part.

The Deputy was transported to the hospital where he remains in stable condition with a broken leg.
