Woman Killed on I-5 near Blackburn Overpass Identified

Skagit County, WA- The Skagit County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identification of a woman involved in a fatality on Interstate 5 near the Blackburn Overpass in Mount Vernon, Washington on the early morning of May 26th, 2020.

The woman has been identified as 57-year old Leticia Maldonado-Reyes of Mount Vernon. The cause of death has been determined to be multiple blunt force injuries and the manner of death has been ruled a suicide by the Coroners Office.

The Washington State Patrol had received reports of a person laying in the Northbound Lanes of Interstate five near Blackburn Road around 2:20 a.m. on the morning of May 26th. The person had been struck by multiple vehicles and died at the scene.

Detectives are asking for anyone who saw a pedestrian on the Blackburn Road overpass or believe they struck an item that was in the roadway around 2:20 a.m. to please contact Detective Charles Sletten at (360) 654-1144 or email him at Charles.Sletten@wsp.wa.gov
