Man Arrested After Crashing into Power Pole and Leading Burlington Police on Short Pursuit

Burlington, WA – Emergency response personnel from the City of Burlington were dispatched to a “High Risk” Motor Vehicle accident around 4:00 p.m. this afternoon.  According to Scanner traffic archives, a blue pick  had reportedly  crashed into a power pole while traveling at a high rate of speed  in the 300 block of S. Skagit Street.

Arriving Burlington Officers located a Blue pickup that was leaving the scene at approximately 10-miles per hour. The truck traveled Southbound on South Regent, then Eastbound on E. Rio Vista before heading Northbound on Anacortes Street.  The driver allegedly ran a stop sign at Anacortes Street and East Rio Vista Street before eventually getting onto  State Route 20 Eastbound.  Burlington Officers discontinued the pursuit for Safety reasons after the driver took off at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass vehicles on the right.  Officers asked for Sedro-Woolley, Skagit County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol to be notified of the vehicle’s direction of travel.  Several minutes later the driver of the truck slammed into a white car near the intersection of State Route 20 and Vista View Lane.  The driver of the truck exited the truck and was yelling at the people driving the white car. Sedro-Woolley Police took the male into custody.

Sedro-Woolley Police, Burlington Police and multiple Fire and EMS units responded to the scene with Deputies from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers from the Washington State Patrol.

The Driver of the truck was taken into custody by Officers and according to Police scanner traffic, requested his attorney.

This is a developing story and additional details will be released as they become available.
