Murder Suspect Sought in Whatcom County Homicide

Whatcom County, WA – On Sunday morning, October 11, 2020, at approximately 9:00AM, deputies from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 4000 block of Mosquito Lake Road for a death investigation. A passerby had found a deceased male lying on the ground outside of a running vehicle at a gravel pullout alongside the roadway. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered that the male was deceased and had multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
Over the course of the day detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene and followed up leads on the homicide. The victim has been identified as 41 year old Clinton E. Gulick of Bellingham, Washington. The investigation led to an associate of Mr. Gulick’s who was identified as 36 year old Roseanne L. Paden, also from Bellingham. At approximately 8:00 PM, Ms. Paden was arrested for Murder 1st and booked into the Whatcom County Jail.
At this time the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an additional suspect in the homicide of Mr. Gulick. The second suspect is identified as 34 year old Zachary S. Ranahan of Bellingham, Washington. He is a Caucasian male, 5’06” tall and 170 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous and may be attempting to flee the area. If the public has information on Mr. Ranahan’s whereabouts, they are asked to call 9-1-1 or the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes tip line at 360-778-6663.
At this time the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing any further details on the investigation as it is still an active case. Further information will be released at a later date.
