Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-5 around 5:28 p.m. on November 12th, 2020 near milepost 221 in Skagit County.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 22-year old Jordan Blankenship of Blaine was traveling Southbound on I-5 in a white 2018 Ford F150 Pickup towing a 2019 trailer. Troopers say his vehicle became disabled in Lane two and  Blankenship is believed to have exited his vehicle and was standing between the truck and trailer when a 2000 Ford F150 being driven by   37-year old Terry Macewen of Marysville slammed into the back of the trailer and the trailer then struck and killed Blankenship.

Macewen was injured and transported to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon for his injuries.  He was then arrested and booked into the Skagit County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide. He is currently being held in Lieu of $150,000 bail.   Troopers believe drugs or alcohol are a factor in the crash but the official cause of the crash remains under investigation.

All three vehicles were totaled and impounded to the Washington State Patrol District 7 bullpen for evidence.
