The spotlight stream this week is Brett Benton. Originally from Tuscaloosa AL, this extraordinarily talented young guitarist has dedicated his art to preserving the original Delta Country/Blues/Roots music style which originated in Mississippi in the early 20th century and was popularized by artists such as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, R.L. Burnside and Lead Belly. This livestream is a great opportunity to listen to a style of music that’s not often performed anymore, however played a pivotal role in the shaping of modern country, blues and rock music. One of the hardest working musicians in the pre-covid era by playing several live shows every week, Brett has been relatively silent on the livestream front. If you love the old style blues …. or if you’re interested in learning some American music history, make sure you tune in to this livestream.
Havilah Rand will be doing a solo livestream, hosted by Bellinghome School of Music, and will include pieces from her LifeSong Project, which are songs commissioned by individuals who wish to have an elderly loved one’s life/legacy memorialized in music. For more information on her LifeSong Project … or to find out how you can get a song written about a loved one, click this link https://holisticartventures.com/the-lifesong-project/
Zach Michaud’s Friday night Squeaky Chair Sessions are back. His combination of witty banter/stories along with his self-titled genre of “Hot Freshly Baked Folk & Blues” is always entertaining …. especially if you like humor a little on the dark side.
Joe (Guitarman) Peterson will be doing a solo livestream. You may know him from his years working at Hugo Helmer. If you’ve purchased an instrument from this local shop, he probably sold it to you. Check out his electric guitar driven folk rock stylings on Saturday night.
Our PNW Music’s podcasts episode Savanna Woods & Friends was postponed from last week to this week. Tune in at 8pm on KMRE 102.3 to hear some outstanding tunes from Savanna Woods, Dr. Sweets, Mandy Weeda and Andrea Fountain.
