Remains of Missing Lynden Man Found by Detectives

Whatcom County, WA –  On November 16, 2020,  37-year-old Timothy “Tim” Elenbaas of Lynden, was reported missing by family members. He had reportedly been last seen  in the area of Hovander Park in Ferndale around 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

On November 17, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Search and Rescue volunteers performed a search of the Tenant Lake area where Timothy Elenbaas’ car had been found. That search was unsuccessful.

As a follow-up, on December 1, detectives searched the areas of Tenant Lake that are inaccessible by foot using a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) commonly known as a drone. Through the use of the drone, a body was located in the thick marsh. Summit to Sound Search and Rescue was called in and recovered the body from the marsh.

Detectives were able to confirm the body was that of missing person,  Timothy Elenbaas.
