Sedro-Woolley Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of his Father

Sedro-Woolley, WA – The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon just after midnight on January 6th, 2021,  in the 3000 block of Pine Lane in Sedro-Woolley.  This area of Sedro-Woolley falls under the jurisdiction of the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press memo from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, a family member reported that 53-year old Scott Granger of Sedro-Woolley had attempted to shoot him while he was laying in bed trying to sleep.

Detectives say, Scott Granger’s elderly father was sleeping in his room when he awoke after hearing Mr. Granger yelling at the television in the living room.  The elder Granger stated that his son then opened his bedroom door, pointed a shotgun directly at him while he was laying in bed and fired as single round, narrowly missing the victim. The father told detectives the  son then left the bedroom and began talking to the television again.   The father was able to flee the residence and contact 9-1-1.  He was not injured in the incident.

Deputies arrived and safely took the son into custody without incident. Deputies found the shotgun and a bullet hole through a pillow and a bullet lodged in a mattress in the residence.  The son told deputies that the TV News told him to do it.

The son, 53-year old Scott Granger of Sedro-Woolley was booked into the Whatcom County Jail for Attempted Murder 2nd Degree.
