Sedro-Woolley Man Injured in Suspected DUI Crash in Anacortes

Anacortes, WA – The Washington State Patrol and local first responders responded to a serious injury crash in the 3200 block of Commercial Avenue in Anacortes around 7:41 p.m. on January 28th, 2021.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 40-year old Richard Vaniterson of Sedro-Woolley was allegedly  traveling under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol, Northbound on 32nd Street in a white 2007 Hyundai SUV. Troopers say Vaniterson ran a red light at Commercial Avenue and was struck by a Northbound 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by 32-year old Lindsay Hearn of Anacortes.  Vaniterson was injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. Hearn and a passenger in her vehicle, identified by Troopers as 33-year old Johah Patrick of Anacortes were not injured in the crash. All three subjects were reported to be wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Troopers say both vehicles were totaled and impounded by Carl’s Towing of Mount Vernon for safe keeping.

The cause of the crash was listed as “Running a Red Light” and driving under the influence. Vaniterson will be charged accordingly once released from the hospital.
