Marysville Man Airlifted to Hospital after Crash on Lake Cavanaugh Road

Skagit County, WA– The Washington State responded to a 2-vehicle, serious injury crash on Lake Cavanaugh Road around 5:31 pm on June 26th, 2021.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 60-year old, Douglas A. Teachout of Marysville, was traveling Northbound on Lake Cavanaugh Road on a 2004 Yamaha XV1700 CR. Troopers say 29-year old, Talan C. Robinson of Mount Vernon  was also traveling Northbound on the right shoulder of Lake Cavanaugh Road on a motorcycle.  As, Mr. Teachout attempted to pass, Mr. Robinson in the oncoming lane of travel, Mr. Robinson is said to have turned in front of Mr. Teachout, causing Mr. Teachout to crash into him.

Troopers say Mr. Teachout was seriously injured and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was reportedly wearing a USDOT compliant helmet at the time of the crash.   Mr. Robinson was injured and transported to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon for treatment. Troopers say he was not wearing a USDOT compliant helmet at the time of the crash.

The Yamaha was damaged and towed by Budget Towing of Mount Vernon.

Troopers say improper lane usage was the cause of the crash and drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
