21-Year-Old Burlington Man Dies in Crash on Burlington Boulevard

Burlington, WA – The Washington State Patrol says a 21-year-old Burlington man has died after he crashed into the back of a Semi Truck and Trailer while attempting to flee a previously attempted traffic stop.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 21-year-old Alex Flores Rosales of Burlington was traveling Northbound on Burlington Boulevard in an orange 2015 Ford Mustang around 2:18 a.m. on January 29th, 2022.  Troopers say Flores Rosales was traveling at a high rate of speed after fleeing from a previously attempted traffic stop by the Washington State Patrol and his Mustang struck the rear of a Kenworth T680 Semi Truck hauling a 2016 Fonta Flatbed Trailer near Cascade Mall Drive. The Mustang came to rest on the Southbound Sidewalk. Troopers say Flores Rosales was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. The Semi truck was being driven by 60-year-old Nikolay B Zhekovski of Vernon, Washington.

Troopers say the Mustang was totaled and the Semi Truck and Trailer received Reportable damage in the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
