Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle on McLean Road

Mount Vernon, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal car versus pedestrian crash on Mclean Road near Bradshaw Road around 5:53 p.m. on January 28th, 2022.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 87-year old Allan Kelley of Mount Vernon was attempting to cross McLean Road and was walking in the Westbound Lane when he was struck and killed by a Westbound 2014 Toyota Tacoma being driven by 34-year old Chad Deyo of La Conner, who was not injured in the crash.

Troopers say Deyo is believed to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash and he has been booked into the Skagit County Community Justice Center on an INVESTIGATIVE HOLD for Vehicular Homicide.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and next of kin notification was made by Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies on scene.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Jacob Kennett wrote on Twitter, “Our hearts go out to all those who are affected by this tragic incident.” 

The Toyota was impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen as evidence.
