Pedestrian Dies After Walking into Traffic on I-5 in Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a Commerical Vehicle verses Pedestrian collision on Southbound Interstate 5 near milepost 225 around 4:48 a.m. on July 27th, 2022.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 62-year old Larry Wagar of Sedro-Woolley, walked in front of a Southbound 2022 Volvo Semi towing a 2015 refrigerated trailer being driven by 32-year old Lakhvir Singh of Surrey, BC.  Singh was not able to stop in time and struck Mr. Wagar, killing him.  Singh Lakhivar and his passenger, 23-year old Karanvir Singh of Surrey, BC were not injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash was listed as Pedestrian in the Roadway.
