Local gym welcomes new trainer & announces new summer schedule, new programs, expanded membership options
June 9th, 2014, Sedro-Woolley, WA. Last week, owners Mike Smith and Tami Straub of Crossover Fitness & Training in Sedro-Woolley welcomed a new trainer to the staff, and announced their new summer schedule, which adds classes, summer programs, and more membership options. The new trainer–Nic Nakis, a Sedro-Woolley native–came straight off a 7-month stint at Tiger Muay Thai & MMA in Phuket, Thailand, where he taught group classes and personal training. Nakis previously worked at Xplore CrossFit in Seattle.
Crossover’s new summer schedule adds group classes at 5:30am, 9:30am, and 12:00pm, as well as a Beginners Class at 6:00pm M/W/F, and Skills Classes at 6:00pm T/Th. Their summer programs include a Youth Sports and Conditioning program for kids aged 6-18 at Riverfront Park in SW, and a Couch-to-Mud-Run program designed to get sedentary people ready for an obstacle course/mud run (think Foam Fest or Dirty Dash) over a month and a half of training. The Youth Sports Conditioning program runs M/W/F from June 16th to July 11th. The Couch-to-Mud-Run program will start July 7th and run 4 times per week for 6 weeks, culminating in the Muds-to-Suds run in Ferndale.
Also announced were new membership options ranging from $50/month to $130/month, with no enrollment fees, no service fees, and no long-term contracts. Discounts were offered for uniformed services (police, fire, EMT, paramedic, military), youth under the age of 18, and friends and family of current members. They also offer a 1-week free trial for prospective members.
About Crossover Fitness & Training
Crossover’s style of training is best described as high-intensity functional fitness using old-school gym tools. The 2500 sq. ft. facility houses pull-up bars, barbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, and the like (this is not the kind of place where you’ll find treadmills and weight machines). Their mission is to build a fitter and healthier community through high-intensity functional exercise. Crossover’s trainers use their knowledge and experience to help clients move better, work harder, and accomplish their goals. Over time, their vision is to build a strong community around health and fitness in Skagit Valley, and to give Sedro-Woolley a reputation for producing high-performance athletes.
Mike Smith and Tami Straub opened Crossover Fitness & Training in October 2012, on the corner of State St. and Reed St. in downtown SW. Their website was recently redesigned, and they are running active social media campaigns on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Further details on all of these big changes and new programs can be found on the website.
