Christensen elected president of state planning organization

SKAGIT COUNTY – Gary Christensen, current Manager and former Director of Skagit County Planning and Development Services, was recently elected to serve a two year term as president of the Washington State Association of County and Regional Planning Directors.

The statewide organization is closely affiliated with the Washington State Association of Counties, which serves Washington’s 39 counties.

“Networking with other communities throughout the Puget Sound and across the state on growth management, land use, economic development, housing, environmental, and sustainability policies is essential as we come out of the recession and look forward,” said Christensen. “It is my intention to be a voice for Skagit County and the profession in addressing these issues today and for future generations.”

Christensen has more than 28 years of experience in land use planning, including 26 years working for Skagit County and its citizens. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
