Skagit County-NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS), SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training

Skagit County, WA: SKYWARN® is volunteer program of trained severe weather spotters that help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.

NWS encourages anyone with an interest in public service and access to communication, such HAM radio, to join the SKYWARN® program. Volunteers include police and fire personnel, dispatchers, EMS workers, public utility workers and other concerned private citizens. Individuals affiliated with hospitals, schools, churches, nursing homes or who have a responsibility for protecting others are also encouraged to become a spotter.

We will be offering training to become a Weather Spotter on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 6:30-9:00 PM at Skagit Emergency Management/Richeson Training Facility at 2911 E. College Way, Mount Vernon.  THERE IS NO COST FOR THIS TRAINING but you must RSVP.  Either call (360) 428-3250 or email dem@co.skagit.wa.us.  Seating will be limited.
