Fatality Accident: Vehicle into Hood Canal

The Washington State Patrol responded to a single car fatality accident  on North State Route 101 near milepost 335. This is 10 miles North of Shelton.  According to the press memo, a red 2009 Chrysler 300 was northbound on US 101 near MP 335 when the vehicle drifted to the right, continued off the roadway and down an embankment. The vehicle then struck the root of a tree, catapulted into the water, landing upside down. The vehicle drifted from shore between 50-75 feet, righting itself, then sank in 8-10 feet of water. The female driver, who has not been identified was pulled from the water by rescue workers. She was pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

The vehicle was towed by Twin Towing.  The cause of the accident is under investigation. The press memo states it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved.
