Kitsap County, WA: March 26th, 2015. 3:53 PM. The Washington State patrol responded to reports of a 3-car injury accident on North State Route 3 at Milepost 55 in Kitsap County.
According to the press memo, 52 year old Michael Lunn of Suquamish was Southbound SR3 at MP 55 in a silver 2005 Kia Spectra when he attempted to avoid a collision with slowed vehicles in the Southbound lane by swerving into oncoming traffic.
The Kia then collided head-on with a Northbound purple 1964 Chrysler New Yorker driven by Jason Melson, 36 of Poulsbo. The New Yorker then went off the roadway and hit a tree.
A third vehicle, a 2006 Honda Accord driven by Cindy Hood, 62, of Port Ludlow, swerved to avoid a collision with the other two vehicles.
The driver of the New Yorker was injured and transported by aid to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. A passenger in the New Yorker, 15 year old Brittney Timmerman, was injured and also transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
The Kia and New Yorker were impounded to Kitsap Towing. The Honda was driven from the scene. The driver of the Kia and the Honda were not injured. The press memo states drugs and alcohol were not involved.
The cause of the accident is listed as Over the Center line and charges of over the center line are pending against the driver of the Kia.
