Mount Vernon, WA: The Mount Vernon Police Department responded to reports of a gunshot heard and a person down in a field just after 1:30 pm today.
The initial caller stated the person was in a field behind a house on East Kincaid and arriving officers determined the person was down in a park, best accessed off of 25th Street.
Mount Vernon Fire and Emergency Medical Services staged in the area while Mount Vernon Officers Secured the scene.
Officers reported a gun shot to the head and the person was unconscious but still breathing.
Shortly afterwards the Officers requested a detective to the scene.
This is an active incident and will be updated as more information becomes available.
It was unclear from scanner traffic if this was a self inflicted gunshot wound or a shooting in the park.
