Day Creek, WA: May 1st, 2015. 12:43 pm. The Washington State Patrol, Medic 1 and Medic 2 responded with Clear Lake Firefighters and Day Creek Firefighters to reports of a single vehicle rollover collision with injuries on The South Skagit Highway at Old Day Creek Road.
According to the press memo, 47 year old Barry Angasan of Coupeville was Westbound on the South Skagit Highway at Old Day Creek Road when the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle became airborne and both occupants were ejected.
Medics initiated CPR on a 48 year old passenger from Burlington and transported him to Skagit Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of the collision. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Update: May 2nd, 2015. The Washington State Patrol released the name of the passenger that died in the accident. His name is Jeffrey Thomas, 48 of Burlington, WA.
The Driver was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital. Medics had a tough time with the patient as he was belligerent in the ambulance and Deputies from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office had to meet the ambulance at the hospital.
The cause of the accident is listed as Speed and wheels off of the roadway. The driver is also being charged with Vehicular Homicide.
Alcohol or drugs are listed as unknown. Witnesses reported a bottle of Vodka was found at the collision scene. Trooper Francis said Alcohol may be a factor in the collision.
