City of Mount Vernon Downtown Electrical Upgrade Summer 2015

File Photo: RoadworkMount Vernon, WA: Starting in the first week of June, and lasting through July,  Puget Sound Energy (PSE) will be working in portions of Downtown Mount Vernon to relocate overhead electrical and telecommunications services into underground conduit and vaults. This project has been designed to improve safety and increase electrical system capacity in the area. Puget Sound Energy has been in communication with the Mount Vernon Downtown Association, affected businesses and property owners, and has created the following website to communicate project information and updates: Mountvernonpower.wordpress.com. Schedule details and updates are also available on the City’s website at www.mountvernonwa.gov.

Most construction will occur between June 1st and mid-July on:
• Pine St and Pine Square, between Main St and S 2nd St; and
• In the alley between S 1st St and S 2nd St, from Pine Square to W Montgomery St.

Construction activity in each block is expected to take approximately two weeks. Pedestrian access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. Occasional traffic delays are possible. Once underground construction has concluded and streets are completely restored in mid-July, PSE will continue with less-impactful work through approximately September to convert customers to the new underground system.

Questions regarding the project may be directed to Puget Sound Energy at (425) 463-6072, or the City of Mount Vernon Community and Economic Development Department at (360) 336-6214
