Whatcom County, WA:  June 10th, 2015.  A day after the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a possible murder-suicide in the 8200 block of Sebens Court in Whatcom County, details of the incident are being released.

Whatcom County 9-1-1 Dispatchers received an emergency call from a teen girl  stating that there had been a murder-suicide at her house.

The girl stated that her mother was shot in a truck in the driveway and that her father then shot himself in the house. The girl  had ran to a neighbors house to call  9-1-1 after hearing the shots and finding the victims.

Initially, the girl could not find her sister and police were concerned the sister may have been shot as well.  The sister was later found at a friends house.   There was also some confusion from dispatchers who told deputies  that the father was in a tree house on the property and after Deputies talked to the daughter, it was later determined there was no tree house and the father was in the main residence.  Communication Errors like these can happen in high stress, extremely  tense situations.

Deputies and Officers from all over Whatcom County converged on the house on Sebens Court.   The first arriving deputies confirmed a woman was in a truck in the driveway with an apparent gun shot wound to the head. She was still breathing and medics transported her to a local hospital,  where she later died from her injuries.   Once backup arrived they found the father dead inside the house from a reported  self-inflicted gun shot wound.

Dispatchers  identified the man over the scanner airwaves within minutes of the call going out to officers as Bryan Roy. An online white-pages search of the address of the call also confirmed this information.   We delayed reporting this information until  Deputies on scene confirmed the identify of the shooter (father) as 53-year old Bryan Roy.

Friends of the family identified the murdered woman as his wife, Anita Roy.  A family friend, who wants to remain anonymous,  directed us to a Facebook Page maintained by her and Friends and family have been posting their condolences on her Facebook Page since the incident happened. The Sheriff’s Office has not officially identified the woman, but they’ve already identified the husband, so most people can or have already connected the dots.

The Human Society was called to take care of two very small barking dogs in the residence.

CPS was called to assist with the children until things could be figured out with family.  Friends said the Roy’s have 7 children.

Bryan Roy has a history of violence and according to Superior Court Records, this is not the first time he has been violent towards his family.  In 2005 it was reported that he shot 4 dogs in  the head in front of one of his daughters, smashed cabinets in his house with a hammer and assaulted his then wife.

Deputies on Scene confirmed the murder-suicide late in the evening and gave no motive for the shooting.  They stated both subjects were shot with a shot gun and additional details would be released as they became available.

A Family friend, Holly Moretto started a go fund me page to help with funeral expenses.  Click here to be taken to the Go Fund Me page.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated as more information becomes available to us.
