Join Birdsview Brewery for their annual Cardiac Arrest Fest! This year they are raising money for the Heather Schols Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Skagit Valley Hospital. Live music schedule for the event are; The Touks (4-6pm) and Whiskey Fever (6:30-8:30pm). They will have 50/50 raffles, a silent auction, and food and drink specials, including their signature seasonal beer Cardiac Arrest, in which a portion of the sales are donated to the cause all month long.
On October 1, 2008, The oners’ 31 year old son, Jason Voigt, suffered a cardiac arrest due to an undiagnosed heart condition, called Wolfe Parkinson White Syndrome. After spending several weeks in ICU and a few more weeks in rehab, Jason had to relearn how to walk, talk, read, and write. After Jason suffered his cardiac arrest, the brewery had to be closed for a full month while the family was taking care of Jason in ICU and rehab. The amazing community that we are a part of, banded together and held a fundraiser for Jason’s family to help cover some of his medical bills. Every October since, wanting to give back to our generous community, they raise money for local cardiac centers to help raise awareness of heart related issues and life threatening conditions.
This year they will also have another special occurrence during Cardiac Arrest Fest. Members of Keep a Heart Beating Skagit (whose mission was to raise $12,000 to place lifesaving AED devices in eastern Skagit County) will be present. Thanks to their fundraising efforts, Albert’s Red Apple, the Concrete Theater, the Marblemount Community Center, Concrete High School, and Birdsview Brewery all received these AED devices and training free of charge. During Cardiac Arrest, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration for the onsite AED device.
Come out to support a great cause and have some fun while you’re doing it!
