Whatcom Teen Killed in Vehicle Crash

Whatcom County, WA– On October 17th, 2015 around 2:35 pm, the Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal car crash on Tilbury Road at Limestone Road near Sumas in Whatcom County.

According to the press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 18 year old Calvin Ledet, of Sumas (Lynden) was driving a 1990 Honda Accord, Northbound on Tilbury Road when he ran a stop sign at Limestone Road.  The press memo states the vehicle went off the roadway at a “high rate of speed” where it struck a rock wall and flipped over. The driver, who they believe was possibly  not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.

According to a Go Fund Me account that has been set up to help his family with memorial expenses, “Calvin is survived by his two younger brothers who are devastated at the loss of such a role model to them, his father and stepmother, his mother, and sister”

Calvin attended Nooksack Valley High School, where he ran on the track team.

A photo on Calvin’s  Facebook Page, titled “my first car!!!” dated August 3rd, showed a photo of his new car, and his Go Fund me account, set up by Tonia Rountree says, Calvin was  “supposed to start college in the winter semester and he had just recently received his drivers license before he was  so suddenly taken from us.”

According to the Washington State patrol press memo, speed and failure to stop at a stop sign were listed as the cause of the accident.
