Belfair Man Killed in Crash Near Port Orchard

Kitsap County, WA- The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatality crash on East SR 16, 1 mile west of Port Orchard around  5:21 am on November 19th, 2015.

 

According to the press memo,  30 year old Andrew Tobler, of Fircrest was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in a white 2003 Ford Ranger pickup Southbound on SR3, transitioning to SR 16, when he rear ended a blue  2004 Kia Rio being driven by Delyle Edgar “Mac”  Machacek, 71 of Belfair as he was pulling out of a 76 gas station parking lot.

The impact of the crash sent the Kia Rio across the center median into oncoming Westbound Traffic where it was hit head-on by a gray 2010 Toyota Prius driven by 56 year old Debra Landon of Olalla.   Both Vehicles were then hit by a fourth vehicle, a black 1996 Chevy S-10 pickup driven by 34 year old Patrick Murray of Port Orchard.  

The causing driver was not injured and booked into the Kitsap County Jail for vehicular Homicide and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  His truck was impounded to the Tacoma State Patrol Bullpen.

The Driver of the Kia Rio, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His vehicle was totaled and impounded to the Tacoma State Patrol Bullpen.

The driver of the Prius was transported by Aid Units to St. Anthony’s Hospital. Her vehicle was totaled and impounded by Silverdale Towing.

The driver of the S-1o Pickup was not injured. His vehicle was totaled and impounded by Chico Towing.
